Dordt College Football vs. Hastings
October 4, 2008
(Hastings, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defender football team hung tough for nearly three quarters but the Hastings College Broncos took advantage of a pair of turnovers to score three quick touchdowns on the way to a 35-0 Great Plains Athletic Conference win over the Dordt College Defenders.
The Broncos struck for two quick scores in the first quarter. The hosts scored on a two-play, 23 yard drive to open the scoring at the 12:25 mark of the quarter. The Defenders ran ten plays from scrimmage on the drive and actually had the ball for 12:44 of the second quarter.
The score remained 14-0 until Maurice Mansfield caught a 20 yard pass for a touchdown with :38 remaining in the third quarter to cap a 47 yard drive. Hastings then picked off a pass to start the fourth quarter to stretch the lead to 28-0 on the return for touchdown and they capped the scoring with a 40 yard drive near the midpoint of the fourth quarter.
