(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender football suffered a last second loss to a junior varsity team from Briar Cliff on Monday, September 17 by a final score of 23-21. The Defenders surrendered an 18 yard field goal with :08 on the game clock as the Chargers snuck out the two point win.

Derek Kammerlocher found paydirt again with 5:36 left in the half on a two yard run that finished an 80 scoring drive that took ten plays to bring to a conclusion. Kammerlocher had a forty yard run to swing the field position battle on the drive and Adam Shirley completed a five yard pass on fourth down to Ryan Campbell to keep the drive alive. Aaron Huisman was also on the receiving end of an 18 yard pass play on third down that set up Kammerlocher's rush over the left side of the line.

The point after attempt failed and the Defenders got the ball back but couldn't sustain a drive, committing a penalty that brought a pass completion back after a first down. The Dordt defense took the field for the last time with 1:54 left in the game and couldn't hold the Charger offense off as Lane Claussen engineered a drive from the Briar Cliff 35 to the Dordt one that included three pass completions and set up the game winning 18 yard field goal by Jason Enright.
