The Dordt College men claimed sixth place at the Woody Greeno Invite hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on Saturday, September 21. The Defenders, competing in the 18-team college division, totaled 167 points on a day where Nebraska-Kearney won it with 49 points. Fellow GPAC members Concordia, Nebraska Wesleyan and Doane finished third, fourth and fifth. Concordia had 96 points and Nebraska Wesleyan 124. Doane totaled 162 points to nip the Defenders.
Nathan Jackson led the Defenders with a 12th place finish of 26:28 on the 8,000 meter course. Nick Vanderkooi was 20th in 26:47 and Chris Postma was 36th in 27:22. Tim Bierma and Hunter Weinert completed the Dordt scoring with placings of 65th and 68th in 28:09 and 28:12 respectively.
Derek Opp and Trent Kischer recorded times of 28:31 and 28:56 and placed 86th and 109th in the 226 runner field.
Franklin Tonui won the race with a time of 24:55 while competing for Iowa Central.
Dordt’s next competition will be Saturday, September 28 when they run at the Roy Griak Invite in St. Paul, Minnesota.
