(Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve, McCook Lake, South Dakota) The Dordt College women's cross country team finished fifth out of 13 teams and the Dordt men were seventh out of 15 teams at the Briar Cliff Invite hosted at the Adams Nature Preserve near North Sioux City, South Dakota.
The Dordt women totaled 146 points with Concordia winning the team race with 42 points. Black Hills State was second with 81 points.
Michelle Steiger was the first finisher for Dordt with a fifth place time of 18:07. Merissa Harkema came across 20th in 18:49 and Jessica Moseman was 40th in 19:22. Rachel Werkhoven and Anna Jefferson finished 47th and 52nd overall to complete the Dordt scoring in times of 19:45 and 19:52. Places listed are overall placements. 154 runners ran the 5,000 meter women's race. Kara Nelson from Morningside won the race in 17:45.
The Dordt men were paced by Stephan McNamara with a time of 26:36 for 31st overall. Dordt's pack was tight with Josiah Luttjeboer coming across in 26:54 and Ryan Tholen was right behind in 26:56 for 38th and 39th. Nathan Brace and Eric Tudor completed the Defender scoring with times of 26:58 and 27:03 good for 41st and 43rd. Dana Schmidt from Concordia was the men's medalist in a time of 25:03 on the 8,000 meter course. 182 men's runners competed.
Dordt will run their regular season finale on Saturday, October 23 at the Mount Marty Invite in Yankton, South Dakota.
