Cross Country Results

(Sioux Center, Iowa) Dordt College hosted its annual cross country meet on Friday, August 27 at the former Sandy Hollow Golf Course near Sioux Center, Iowa.
Northwestern claimed the women's title with a team total of 25 points while Dordt was second with 31. Michelle Steiger (Sophomore; Lynden, Washington) led the Dordt effort with an individual time of 16:31 for first place on the 2.6 mile course. Steiger's teammate, Merissa Harkema (Freshman; Hudsonville, Michigan), was second in 16:37. Northwestern swept the next five spots to claim the team title with Ingrid Carlson leading the charge with a third place time of 17:17.
The Defender men, led by Brent Van Schepen's (Senior; Edgerton, Minnesota) individual title, won the event with 23 points while Dakota Wesleyan used three top-ten finishes to post a second place total of 50 to narrowly squeeze by Northwestern's team point total of 55.
Van Schepen outdualed Wesleyan's Thomas Madut in the final quarter mile of the four mile course to win in 21:35 while Madut was second in 21:46, barely holding off Dalton Lems who was running unattached. David Christensen (Senior; Waconia, Minnesota) was fifth overall for Dordt in 22:06. Eric Tudor (Sophomore; Charles City, Iowa), Josiah Luttjeboer (Junior; Belleville, Ontario) and Ryan Tholen (Freshman; Tracy, Minnesota) all finished in the top ten for Dordt in times of 22:12, 22:16 and 22:34 respectively.
