(Parkside, Wisconsin) The Dordt College Defender women and men ran at a large meet hosted by Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday, September 20. The Defender women placed fifth out of 17 complete teams and the Defender men were 13th after a one week layoff.
The Defender women were paced by Jen Kempers with a third place time of 18:16 over the 5000 meter course and Tami Wieringa placed 19th with a time of 19:51. Dordt's other scorers were Michelle Steiger with a time of 20:11 in 36th place and Steph Helmus was right by her with a time of 20:14 and 38th place. Kelsey Verkaik was Dordt's fifth runner and had a time of 20:41 for 59th place in the field of 222 runners.
The Defender men got a 64th place finish from Brent Van Schepen in 28:10 and Jathan Robinson was the second Defender across the finish line in a time of 28:26 which was good for 74th. Devin Van't Hof was right behind in 78th and David Christensen and Josiah Luttjeboer were 121st and 124th respectively with times of 29:32 and 29:36. The men's field had 213 runners and was an 8000 meter course.
