Northwestern College took the women's race and Dordt College the men's team title at the Dordt College Early Cross Country meet. Dordt placed second in the women's race had the individual champions in both races.
Northwestern had 26 team points in the women's race while Dordt had 36 with the Defenders getting a first place finish by Jen Kempers (senior; Sioux Center, Iowa) in a time of 14:43, beating her nearest competition, Charity Miles by :24. Michelle Steiger (freshman; Lynden, Washington) placed third in her first collegiate race and Tami Wieringa (senior; Lombard, Illinois) took sixth place in 16:10. Dordt's Kelsey Ver Kaik (freshman, Hudsonville, Michigan) placed 12th and Steph Helmus (senior; Caledonia, Michigan) placed 14th to complete Dordt's scoring.
Dordt's men were paced by Eric Tudor's (freshman; Charles City, Iowa) who won the men's division in a time of 21:58 with his nearest competitor coming in the form of Jack Peterson from Northwestern with a time of 22:19. Brent Van Schepen (junior; Edgerton, Minnesota) was fourth in 22:26 and Jathan Robinson (senior; Des Moines, Iowa) placed sixth in 22:39. Josiah Luttjeboer (sophomore; Belleville, Ontario) rounded out the top-ten with a tenth place time of 22:53.
Northwestern repeated as women's champions from 2007 and Jen Kempers won the race for the second time in three years.
The women's race was run on a 2.5 mile course and the men's race was a 4.0 mile event.
