(Prairie Green Golf Course, Sioux Falls, South Dakota) Jen Kempers led the Dordt College Defender women to a sixth place finish at the NAIA Region III cross country meet on Saturday, November 3 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with a third place finish in the race, qualifying for the NAIA national meet in the process. Kempers ran the 5,000 meter course in a time of 18:08, 17 seconds off the pace set by Northwestern's Olivia Johnson.
Concordia ended up winning the women's race with a total of 62 points while Northwestern was in second with 88. Dordt totaled 227 points for sixth place.
Steph Helmus finished 28th in a time of 19:39 and Tami Wieringa was 38th in 19:54. Sara Hanenburg and Laura Broekhuis were Dordt College's next counters with 91st and 97th place respectively.
The Dordt men were paced by Joel De Haan who bounced back from a GPAC meet last week where he tweaked a previous ankle injury and finished 18th in 26:16 and awaits word on Monday, November 5 as to his inclusion in the NAIA national meet in Kenosha, Wisconsin on November 17. Josiah Luttjeboer was 68th in 27:41 on the 8,000 meter course and Mark Eekhoff ran a time of 27:52 and 77th place. Devin Van't Hof and Drew Hoekema were 82nd and 105th respectively.

the men's race was won by Allen Wood of Black Hills State. The Yellow Jackets won in impressive fashion with 36 points with Wood running the course in 25:09.
157 men ran in their race while 154 women finished their competition.
This is the second straight year Kempers has qualified for the National Meet.
