Cross Country Results

(Louisville, Kentucky) Jen Kempers and Chelsea Gerdes, a junior and senior respectively at Dordt College, ran at the NAIA National Cross Country meet on Saturday, November 18.
Kempers, a Sioux Center native, finished 34th overall, narrowly missing All-American honors with a time of 18:46 over the 5,000 meter course. The top-30 runners in the race are declared All-Americans. The 30th place runner finished the race in a time of 18:40. Gerdes finished 116th overall in a time of 19:41. It was the second straight year that Gerdes qualified for the National Meet. This year's qualification came after a year in which Gerdes was plagued by an injury suffered in the second race of the season.
Virgia Intermont ran away from the competition in the men's race with a total of 67 points, easily outdistancing themselves from Concordia (California) with 136 points. The women's team race was won by Simon Fraser (British Columbia) with a total of 73 points. Cedarville (Ohio) was the nearest competitor with 92.
