Dordt College JV Women's Basketball vs. Northwestern

February 10, 2014

(Sioux Center, Iowa) By: Sam Ekstrom

The Dordt College junior varsity women got overpowered Monday night 88-54 by a talented Northwestern Red Raiders squad.

The Red Raiders used a stifling half-court defense to create turnovers and limit the Defenders’ offense in the first half. Northwestern led 35-16 at halftime.

The second half contained more offense for both teams as Northwestern pushed the pace offensively. Katy Kuiper scored 18 second-half points that included four 3-pointers. The Red Raiders pulled away for the 34-point victory.

Northwestern’s Madison Yohe scored 11 and Kori Schulte and Caitlyn Van Es each contributed 10.

Dordt had just one player in double figures. Shae De Jager scored 20 or more for the second straight game, notching 22 for the Defenders.

Dordt (2-14) will conclude their season at Morningside on Feb. 13.
