Dordt College Women's Basketball vs. Dakota State

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender women’s basketball team improved to 11-11 this season with a 97-70 non-conference win over Dakota State on Saturday, January 25 at the De Witt Gym on Dordt’s campus.
The Defenders never trailed as Kara Van Dyke scored Dordt’s first eight points. The hosts took their first double digit lead at 16-6 with 11:41 left in the half and they kept increasing the lead with a 39-19 halftime advantage.
Dordt maintained at least a 20 point lead most of the second half and were never challenged in winning its second game in a row.
Dordt converted 37-67 field goals for 55.2 percent success and they were 8-19 from the three-point line. Dakota State was 22-61 from the field and 5-18 on three-point shots. Dordt had 14 turnovers while Dakota State had 15. Dordt maintained a 43-36 rebounding advantage.
Kara Van Dyke scored 24 points and had nine rebounds with two assists and one steal. Jaimie Kok added 14 points and grabbed ten rebounds with seven assists. Jasmin Schelhaas contributed 13 points and had three steals and Danelle Boone had 11 points. Kim Kroeze and Jessica Jelsema had seven and six points respectively and all 12 Dordt players in uniform scored.
The Defenders will next face Briar Cliff on the road on Wednesday, January 29 in Sioux City.
