Dordt College Women's Basketball vs. Concordia (NE)

(Seward, Nebraska) A balanced attack that featured five different Concordia players in double figures, allowed the Bulldogs to drop the Defenders 89-66 in GPAC play this afternoon (December 7). With the win the Bulldogs improve to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in the GPAC while Dordt College falls to 6-4 on the season and 2-3 in conference play.

The Bulldogs rattled off the first seven points of the contest before the Defenders bounced back with six straight to get within a point (7-6) on a Kim Kroeze basket at 14:21. Concordia proceeded to go on a 16-4 run to jump out to a 15 point advantage (25-10)midway through the first half. Four made free-throws had the Defenders within 11 (25-14) but a 15-5 run quickly pushed the Bulldog advantage to 21 (40-19) with just over three minutes to play in the first half and the Bulldogs took a 49-26 lead into the halftime break.

The Defenders were never able to make a serious run in the second half as both teams scored 40 points.

Dordt was led by Jaimie Kok with 20 points and eight rebounds. Elise Maresh and Danelle Boone each had eight points in the loss. Kara Van Dyke had five rebounds and three assists.

Concordia got 20 points from Becky Mueller and Tracy Peitz had 16 with Bailey Morris tossing in five. Jericca Pearson led the no. 7 ranked team in the country with eight rebounds--seven of them offensive.

Dordt converted 22-53 shots and had 33 rebounds to 47 for the Bulldogs and the Defenders committed 28 turnovers.

Dordt will travel to Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell, South Dakota on Wednesday, December 11.
