The Defenders rallied to get within one on two separate occasions with Danelle Boone making it 54-53 with a made three pointer at 10:54, a layup and a pair of free throws pushed the Charger lead back to 58-53 but again Danelle Boone was able to drill a three to keep the Defenders close, trailing 58-56 with exactly ten minutes to play.
A 10-0 run by the Chargers, capped by a Gordon Summer layup put Briar Cliff up by a dozen (68-56) with 6:15 to play and the Defenders and that would prove to be enough as Dordt could get no closer than seven over the final six minutes of play.

Commenting on the game, Dordt Head Coach Craig Stiemsma added: "We just weren't able to defend them in the post very well and they scored a lot from inside the lane and went to the line a lot. We played hard and determined basketball and did a lot of nice things but not enough to stay in the game when you have that many turnovers."
