Dordt College Women's Basketball vs. Concordia

(Seward, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defender women's basketball team battled but came up short in a Great Plains Athletic Conference contest at Seward, Nebraska on Saturday night against Concordia. The Defenders kept it close but could never put together an extended run to make it more interesting in falling 65-54.
The Defenders were down 13-11 in the first half with 9:41 but surrendered four points in a row to give the Bulldogs some breathing room and the Defenders were down seven at the end of the first half.
The second half was much of the same with Dordt trailing by 11 early and cutting it to six with a Jaimie Kok bucket with 10:49 left in the game. The Defenders never got closer with the Bulldogs gaining their 14th win in 16 games and they kept pace in the tight GPAC race with four teams tied for first place.
Dordt was 20-50 from the floor and 2-10 on three-pointers with 12-18 free throw shooting. Concordia was 24-65 from the floor and 4-26 on three pointers while making 13-16 free throws. Concordia outrebounded the Defenders 39-37 and forced Dordt into 27 turnovers and committed 17.
Brianna Spronk scored ten points to lead the Defenders and she grabbed five rebounds. Kayla Broekhuis scored eight with six rebounds. Kayla Gesink and Jessica Jelsema scored seven points each.
Concordia was led by Kristen Conahan with 16 points and Katie Rich had 13 poitns with Bailey Morris dumping in 12.
Dordt is 6-11 overall and 2-8 in the GPAC while Concordia is now 14-2 overall ad 7-2 in the conference.
