Dordt College Women's Basketball vs. York

(York, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defender women's basketball team stymied the York Panthers in the final minutes of the first half, pulling away from a 23-23 tie and eventually won 84-52.
The two teams were even most of the first half with a three-point basket by York tying the game with 5:23 left in the first half. Dordt responded by outscoring the 19-3 over the next five minutes. Five straight points by Brianna Spronk started the Defenders eventually took a 42-25 halftime lead.
Dordt was never seriously challenged in the second half and rolled to their fourth straight win to start the season.
Dordt converted 33-74 shots from the floor and 5-19 three-pointers with 13-15 free throw shooting. York was limited to 21-65 shooting and made 6-8 free throws. Dordt held a slight 43-42 rebounding edge managed to force 25 turnovers while limiting themselves to 13.
Julia DeKoekkoek scored 19 points and had four assists. Kara VanDyke had 14 points while Amber Soodsma and Brianna Spronk each had 13. Danelle Miedema just narrowly missed double figures with nine poitns and DeKoekkoek had four assists. Soodsma and Spronk each had seven rebounds each. York had 11 points from Rachel Tialeva with 11 points and Lorena Medeiros got ten points with seven rebounds.
Dordt is 4-0 and will host AIB on Wednesday, November 17 at 6:00. York falls to 1-4.
