Dordt College Women's Basketball vs. Jamestown (ND)

(Jamestown, North Dakota) The undefeated and #6 ranked Jamestown Jimmies pulled away from a three point advantage near the mid point of the second half and handed the Dordt College Defender women's basketball team their first loss of the season, a 65-52 final in Jamestown, North Dakota on Saturday, November 7.
The Defenders trailed 31-26 at halftime and trimmed the lead to three at 41-38 before a run of eight points in a row pushed the lead to double figures. Dordt was unable to mount a sustained run at the Jimmies and fall to 1-1 with the loss.
Amber Soodsma scored 21 points, making five three-point shots to lead all scorers. Soodsma also grabbed a team high seven rebounds and shared that honor with Bre Schneidermann who had six points as well. Julia DeKoekkoek had 11 points to go with the six boards.
Dordt made 18-55 shots from the floor while surrendering a 24-53 day for Jamestown fron the field. Neither team got to the free throw line much with Dordt making 8-11 and Jamestown 8-10.
The Jimmies got 12 points from Amanda Rantapa with Cori Doubek and Katie O'Neill each scoring ten. Guili Varriano had a game high nine rebounds. Jamestown held a 36-32 rebounding edge in the game. Dordt kept themselves in the game with 8-18 three-point shooting.
Dordt is 1-1 and will host Grand View on Wednesday night. Jamestown improves to 4-0 this season. The Jimmies qualified for the NAIA Division II National Tournament last season.
