Dordt College Women's Basketball vs. South Dakota Tech

(Rapid City, South Dakota) The Dordt College Defender women's basketball lost their second game in as many days in a classic hosted by South Dakota Tech in Rapid City, South Dakota. Dordt fell to the host school by a 63-59 margin on Saturday afternoon, November 1 and fell to 0-2 this season.
The Defenders, playing without Bre Schneidermann who was still feeling the affects of a hard fall on Friday, managed to hold their own on the glass but shot 18-69 from the floor in the loss.
Dordt trailed 32-28 at halftime and both teams scored 31 in the second half. Amber Soodsma led a trio of Dordt players in double figures with 20 points on 8-17 shooting while Julia DeKoekkoek had 15 points and Brittany den Hoed had ten points in the loss. Soodsma also grabbed eight rebounds and had four steals while McKinzie Schmidt had seven points and a team high nine rebounds. Dordt held a 40-38 rebounding edge and committed 18 turnovers to South Dakota Tech's 23.
The Hardrockers were led by Ariel Granillo and Bethany Holyoak with 13 points a piece and Holyoak had a game high 12 rebounds.
The Defenders will now have nearly a week off before hosting Valley City State and Jamestown on Friday and Saturday, November 7 and 8 in Sioux Center, Iowa.
