January 2, 2008

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender women's basketball team ran their winning streak to four games with a convincing 76-56 win over the Waldorf (Iowa) Warriors on Wednesday, January 2 in a game re-scheduled due to ice and snow on December 1.

The Defenders scored the first points of the game on pair of free throws by Kara Karlsgodt and Megan Forster responded with a bank-shot three-pointer for Waldorf's only lead of the game with 18:53 remaining. Du Mez had ten first half points to lead the Defenders into the break.

The free throws were part of a Dordt College charge that pushed them from up 41-36 with 16:14 left to 55-39 with 11:26 left in the game, effectively putting the game out of reach on a Kelsie De Nooy basket.

Waldorf got as close as ten with 7:16 left but an Amber Soodsma three-pointer, her only three of the night, took the wind out of the comeback as the Defenders coasted in for their third win in six days.
