Dordt College Women's Basketball vs. Nebraska Wesleyan

(Lincoln, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defender women's basketball team won their second game of the week with a 61-51 decision over the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The Defender women got out to a 13-4 lead on a Kelsie De Nooy field goal with 13:21 left to go in the half. The Defenders were unable to blow the game open though as Wesleyan came back to tie the game at 24, 26 and 28 with the final tie coming right before halftime.

In the second half the Defenders scored the first two points of the half only to have Wesleyan tie it again at 32. Dordt clipped off two more points on a Lindsey Van Wyk pair of free throws. Wesleyan took their only lead of the game at 33-32 on a Samantha Porter three-pointer with 17:57 left in the game. The lead was short-lived as Dordt scored four points in a row and extended the lead to 43-37 with 12:07 left in the game on a Betsy Van't Hul field goal.

A Kate Du Mez three-pointer extended the lead on the next possession and the home team would never get closer than eight the rest of the way, losing 61-51.

Lindsey Van Wyk scored a game high 20 points on 7-18 shooting from the floor. Kate Du Mez added 15 points on 6-13 field goals. Dordt made 24-62 shots from the floor in their sixth win of the conference season and managed a 48-33 rebounding edge. McKinzie Schmidt had nine points and Erin Savery led the Defenders with eight rebounds. Lindsey Van Wyk had six rebounds with Du Mez and Savery each had three assists and Du Mez had five steals.

Wesleyan was limited to 21-62 shooting from the floor and were led by Samantha Porter's 13 points.
