Dordt College Women's Basketball vs. Mount Marty

(Sioux Center, Iowa) Dordt College hosted conference opponent Mount Marty in a men's and women's double-header this afternoon. Coming in 5-1 in the GPAC, Mount Marty women defeated the Defenders 55-62 in regulation. Dordt drops to 3-3 in the conference while Mount Marty stays at the top of the GPAC tied with Northwestern and Morningside with only 1 loss in league play.

Dordt had a solid start to the game, taking as much as a 7 at 22-16 with 10:03 left in the half. Dordt dominated the first half rebounds, while Mount Marty excelled off of 16 caused turnovers for the Defenders. The Lancers were helped with 32 points off the bench, led by Michelle Amundson with 18 points. Mount Marty set the tone with their high-pressure defense, pushing Dordt's offense outside the three point line for the majority of the game.

Dordt was led in rebounding by Kara Karlsgodt 14, almost reaching a double-double for the second game in a row with her 9 points on the night. Van Wyk followed Karlsgodt with her 9 rebounds and team-leading 15 points. Mount Marty was led off the bench by Amundson with her 18 points, followed by Amy Bigge's 12. The rebounding leader for the Lancers was Katelynn Kunz with 8.

Dordt will travel to Hastings on Saturday for another afternoon conference double-header.
