Dordt College Women's Basketball vs. College of Saint Mary

(Bellevue, Nebraska (Bellevue University)) The Dordt College Defender women's basketball lost an 81-70 loss to the College of Saint Mary Flames on Thursday, December 21 in Bellevue, Nebraska.

The Defenders squandered an 11 point lead in the second half in falling to 4-9 for the season. The Defenders took a 40-34 halftime lead on a basket by Erin Savery just before halftime. Dordt scored the first points of the second half on a Lindsey Van Wyk three-pointer and eventually extended the lead to 47-36. The Flames, though, ran off nine points in a row to cut the lead down to 47-45. The Defenders broke the run only to have the Flames go on another seven point run to take a 53-48 lead.

Dordt did fight back with Amy Prather hitting a pair of second half three-pointers to help the Defenders to a lead at 64-63. The Flames fought off the Dordt College effort with a three-point play by Katie Homan who was a handful all night for Dordt, scoring 35 points--21 in the second half. The Defenders, in fact would not lead again, losing by the 81-70 count.

Dordt was led by Amy Prather's 14 points on a perfect 5-5 night including 4-4 on three-pointers. Lindsey Van Wyk added 12 and Kate Du Mez and Kristin De Ronde had 10 with Van Wyk grabbing ten rebounds.Dordt College is now 4-9 and will face Central (Iowa) on Saturday, December 30. The Flames are now 4-9 as well.
