Dordt College Women's Basketball vs. Morningside

(Sioux City, Iowa) Dordt College dropped to 1-2 in conference play with a loss at Morningside on Wednesday night. The Mustangs moved to 2-1 in the GPAC with the 87-69 win.
Dordt College led early by a 12-10 score but the relentless shooting and defense of Morningside wore on Dordt College and the hosts had a 48-29 advantage at halftime. The Defenders were never able to make a serious run at the Mustangs, getting as close as 15 with 3:49 left in the game.
Morningside's full court pressure caused problems for the Defenders throughout the game. The Mustangs recorded 14 steals on the night, while Dordt had five. Both teams pulled in their fair amount of rebounds with 40 total for the Defenders and 43 for Morningside.
Kara Karlsgodt recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds on the night. Lindsey Van Wyk paced Dordt with her game-high 16 points, followed by Amy Prather's 14. Kristin De Ronde had 10 points and five rebounds and Kelsie De Nooy came off the bench to score eight. Morningside was paced by Alisha Willey with 13 points while Betsy Reynolds had 11 and Laura Nelson and JJ Hall each had 10 for a Mustang team that had dropped two of their last three games.
Kate Du Mez and Karlsgodt had five assists each in Dordt's seventh loss of the season. Lindsey Van Wyk had three steals.
Dordt will host Midland Lutheran on Saturday at 2:00 in their first home conference game of the season. Midland Lutheran lost their first game of the season on Wednesday with a loss to the Doane Tigers in a game played at Fremont, Nebraska.
