Dordt College Women's Basketball vs. Dakota State

(Madison, South Dakota) The Dordt College Lady Defender basketball team lost an 86-49 decision at the hands of the Dakota State Lady Trojans in non-conference basketball Friday night in Madison, South Dakota. The Defenders trailed from start falling behind 12-0 and 23-4 before going to halftime down 45-22.
The Lady T's, qualifiers for the NAIA Division II national tournament last year, held the Defender off through the entire second half, outscoring Dordt 41-27 in the second twenty minute segment for the 37 point win.
The Defenders were led by Kara Karlsgodt with 10 points and five rebounds while Kelsie De Nooy added nine points and five caroms. Erin Savery added seven points while Amy Prather and Kate Du Mez contributed six points a piece. Du Mez also had three assists. Dordt made 18 of 57 shots from the floor and were held to 5-23 shooting on three-pointers.
Dakota State got 12 points from Angie Gottsleben and ten points and ten rebounds from Laura Tewes. Ashley Mailey added nine points and Jessica Van Loy was good for eight points, three rebounds and seven assists.
The Defenders are now 0-4 and will face Mayville State (North Dakota) Saturday at 1:00 in the second game of the Dakota State Classic. Mayville State was a 67-40 winner over Briar Cliff in the first game of the night Friday.
