Dordt College Women's Basketball vs. Grand View

(Des Moines, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender women's basketball team lost a 69-56 decision at the hands of the Grand View Vikings in Des Moines on Tuesday, November 7 in non-conference basketball.
The Defenders, still looking for their first win of the season, trailed early by a 13-4 count but spearheaded by Kate Du Mez off the bench fought back to tie the game and take the lead all the way up to 22-17. Grand View responded with a 12 point run to get up by five and rode that advantage to a 33-29 lead at halftime.
The Defenders scored immediately in the second half and the two teams traded buckets to 33-35. Grand View used another 12 point run to go up 47-33 and never had their lead go under ten the rest of the way. Dordt closed to 63-53 late but couldn't any closer, losing their third game of the season.
Dordt College was led by Amanda Henke's 15 point, nine of them came in the first half. The sophomore made 3-6 three-point attempts. Kate Du Mez, a freshman playing in her first varsity game after joining the team at the conclusion of the soccer season, scored 13 on 5-12 shooting. Kelsie De Nooy just missed double figures with nine points and Kara Karlsgodt had eight rebounds and three assists.
Bailey Schechinger led all scorers with 21 points while Jodi Nikkel had 16 points and ten rebounds.
Dordt is now 0-3 while Grand View goes to 2-1.
