Dordt College Women's Basketball vs. Doane-GPAC Quarterfinals

(Crete, Nebraska) The Dordt College Lady Defender basketball season came to an end with a 81-47 loss in the quarterfinal round of the Great Plains Athletic Conference post-season tournament against the Doane Tigers at Crete, Nebraska.
The Lady Defenders trailed from the start, staying within five points with 8:41 left after Tara De Boer made a free throw to make it 23-18.
The Lady Defenders then surrendered nine points in a row over the next 4:00, eventually trailing by 11, 40-29 at halftime.
Dordt cut the lead to nine with 18:44 left in the game on a layup by Tara De Boer but the Tigers went on a 17-0 run from that point to 9:11 remaining to put the game out of reach.
Dordt was led by Tara De Boer's nine points while Shawna Flikkema, Rachel Van Beek and Kara Karlsgodt all had seven points. Van Beek ended with 10 rebounds and Karlsgodt snared eight. Nicki De Blaey led Dordt with three assists on a night where the Lady Defenders were held to 19-62 shooting from the floor for 31 percent. The Lady Defenders had 24 turnovers.
Doane moves on in tournament play with Lindsay Anderson and Alissa Holland scoring 19 each and Ashley Sullwold had ten. Doane made 52 percent of their shots (35-68).
The 15 wins by the Lady Defenders marks the second highest total for a Lady Defender team since 1992. Nine of the 13 Lady Defender losses came to rated opponents.
Other conference final scores found Morningside handling Sioux Falls 87-65. Northwestern handed Mount Marty an 83-59 loss and Hastings beat Dakota Wesleyan 76-53.
