Dordt College Women's Basketball vs. Doane

(Crete, Nebraska) The tenth rated team in the nation, Doane College, defeated the Dordt College Lady Defenders in Great Plains Athletic Conference basketball play Saturday night at the Fuhrer Fieldhouse in Crete, Nebraska by a final score of 71-56.
The Tigers got out to a 16-6 lead and eventually led 29-8 on the heels of a nine point run. Four straight baskets by Kristin De Ronde got the Lady Defenders to within 36-19 at halftime.
The Lady Defenders didn't go away easily in the second half, cutting the lead down to 13 with 3:30 left but a Shawna Flikkema three-pointer was short and the Lady Defenders lost by an eventual count of 71-56.
Dordt was led by Kristin De Ronde's 12 points and nine rebounds while Jill Haan had 11 points and four rebounds. Nicki De Blaey contributed 10 points and five rebounds and two steals. Haan led Dordt with five steals.
The Tigers lifted their record to 11-3 in the conference with the decision and were led by Alissa Holland with 27 points as the sophomore went 10-11 from the floor and Marti Blecha converted on 22 points.
Dordt falls to 6-9 in the conference and 11-11 overall. The Lady Defenders are currently in 8th place in the conference while Dakota Wesleyan and Mount Marty are tied in 6th place with records of 7-8.
