Dordt College Women's Basketball vs. Mount Marty

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Mount Marty Lady Lancers avenged an early-January loss to the Dordt College Lady Defenders Wednesday night in Great Plains Athletic Conference play by taking a 74-62 win at the De Witt Gym.
The Lady Lancers jumped to a ten point lead before Dordt scored back-to-back buckets with just under seventeen minutes left in the first half. The six point deficit was as close as the Lady Defenders would get as Mount Marty blew the game open by 24 points late in the half, limiting Dordt to just three points in a span from nine minutes left in the first half to one minute left. Dordt did score the final three points of the half to go in to intermission down 40-19.
The Lady Defenders were never able to get the lead down to single digits, getting as close as ten, once, on a three-point shot by Tara De Boer with :59 remaining.
The Lady Defenders converted 24-43 shots from the floor for 41 percent while the visitors were making 28-58 for 48 percent. Shawna Flikkema had a team high 16 points and two steals while Jill Haan and Tara De Boer each had ten for the Lady Defenders. Kathryn Ferrie grabbed five rebounds as Dordt was outrebounded 34-28.
Mount Marty was topped by Tevan Wenbourne's 16 points, six assists and six steals while Carrie Ahlers and Stacey Lickteig both had 12 points.
Dordt is now 11-10 overall and have lost three in a row while Mount Marty is 9-14. Both teams are 6-8 in conference play with four games to go.
