Dordt College Women's Basketball vs. Dakota Wesleyan

(Mitchell, South Dakota) The Dordt College Lady Defender basketball team slipped to 5-5 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference and 10-7 overall with a 67-59 loss to Dakota Wesleyan at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota.

The Lady Defenders jumped out to a 10-2 lead and were up 12-5 before Wesleyan scored scored eight points in a row to go up 13-12. The Lady Tigers would eventually lead by eight at halftime by a 30-22 margin.

Dordt sliced into the Wesleyan lead almost immediately in the second and half and got to within two with just over 14 minutes left in the game. Dordt continued the comeback and took their first lead of the second half with 8:25 remaining on a Jill Haan lay-up making the score 48-45. Wesleyan scored the next six points and never trailed again, making free throws at the end of the game to pull off the 67-59 win.

Dordt was led in scoring by Kristin De Ronde and Jill Haan with 12 points each. Linsdey Van Wyk added 10 and Kathryn Ferrie and Tara De Boer had nine and eight points respectivley. Dordt was held to 19-61 shooting for 31 percent while the hosts were making 21-44 shots for 48 percent, including 4-8 on three point shots.

De Ronde registered a double-double with 12 rebounds as Dordt held a 41-36 rebounding edge

Adria Pazour had 17 points and 10 rebounds in a reserve role for the Lady Tigers.

The loss snapped a three game Dordt College winning streak.
