(Orange City, Iowa) The Dordt College Lady Defenders took a lead at 13-12 in the first half of their game with William Jewell (Missouri) and never trailed again in posting a 76-68 decision at the Northwestern Red Raider basketball Classic in Orange City, Iowa.
The Lady Defenders withstood every challenge the Cardinals had as William Jewell cut the lead down to four on two different occasions in the second half.
The Lady Defenders got to the free throw line a total of 41 times, making 24 with Jill Haan leading the way with a 10-14 shooting day from the free throw line to share team scoring honors with Lindsey Van Wyk. Both players had 18 points while Kristin De Ronde had 10. Rachel Van Beek led the Lady Defender rebounding effort with 11 caroms as Dordt College held a decided 48-24 rebounding edge. Nicki De Blaey had five assists to pace the Lady Defenders while Tara De Boer had nine points and three steals.
The Cardinals were topped by Nicole Revenaugh with 26 points and Amber Parker added 11.
