Dordt College Women's Basketball vs. South Dakota Tech

(Rapid City, SD) The Dordt women have done it! After 11 straight losses to perenial national power South Dakota Tech (91,96-present), the Lady Defenders came away from Rapid City with a win versus the Hardrockers tonight. Tonight's final was 78-69. Dordt and South Dakota Tech have met in nine prior regular season games, and two playoff games ('98,'99) and this time Dordt was the winner. The Hardrockers are ranked 16th in the country in NAIA Division II. Dordt was led by the hot hand of Serena Van Beek. Van Beek hit on four three pointers, and had a game high 24 points in the win. Kelli Holwerda reeled in 16 rebounds to lead the Dordt women now 7-5, and 1-1 in the SDIC. Tech falls to 8-8, and 1-1 in the league. South Dakota Tech has been to the NAIA II Final Four the last two seasons, in Sioux City, Iowa. All-American Jami Barraclough led the Hardrockers with 19 points. Dordt led by as many as 23 on two occasions in tonight's game at Goodell Gymnasium in Rapid City, South Dakota.
