Dordt College Men's Basketball vs. Concordia

(Seward, Nebraska) A strong defensive stretch to end the first half was instrumental in Dordt College scoring a 93-70 win over the Concordia Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon in Seward, Nebraska.

The Defenders scored seven in a row to go from down 2-1 to up 8-2 with 15:36 left in the half. The lead eventually hit double figures on a three-point shot by Dalton Franken with 12:37 left for a 16-5 Dordt advantage. Concordia got as close as 23-18 but the Defenders gradually worked the lead to 50-35, outscoring Concordia 27-17 over the final eight minutes of the first half.

The Dordt lead quickly eclipsed 20 points and the Bulldogs made one charge, getting back to with in 65-51 on a three-point bucket by Robby Thomas with 13:41 left in the game but the Defenders answered with a Nathan Rindels three-point play. A Franken bucket and a Alex Terpstra three-point shot followed by a David Den Herder basket quickly ended the threat and the lead was never under 19 the rest of the game.

The Defenders converted 34-72 field goals and held Concordia to 24-59 shooting. Dordt converted 7-20 three-point shots while the hosts were limited to 5-15 shooting. Dordt held a 48-34 rebounding edge and forced 16 turnovers while committing 13.

Dalton Franken led the Defenders with 21 points and converted 9-14 field goal attempts. Tyler Wolterstorff worked his way for 16 points and David Den Herder came off the bench to score 14. Kyle Lindbergh added 12 and Austin Katje had 10. Nathan Rindels and Alex Terpstra had seven and six points respectively. Lindbergh and Wolterstorff had eight and seven rebounds each and Den Herder had six. Rindels had six assist and two steals as well as Dordt improved to 12-1 overall and 5-0 in the league.

Concordia was paced by Adam Vogt with 15 and Robby Thomas had 13 points and nine rebounds.

Dordt will face Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday, December 11 in Mitchell, South Dakota.
