Dordt College Men's Basketball vs. Trinity Christian (Northwestern Classic)

(Orange City, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender men’s basketball team bounced back from a loss to Davenport on Friday night to defeat Trinity Christian on Saturday afternoon at a classic hosted by Northwestern in Orange City, Iowa. Dordt rebounded from a slow start to take a 100-71 final for its fourth win of the season.
Dordt didn’t take the lead for good until the 8:42 mark of the first half when they pulled away from a 27-27 tie with a six point run punctuated with back to back buckets by Kyle Lindbergh. Dordt proceeded to extend the lead to 48-36 heading to halftime.
The Trolls cut the lead to single digits once in the second half, getting to within 58-50 but a bucket by Lindbergh and a three-point basket by Tyler Wolterstorff ended the threat and the Defenders quickly got the lead up to 20 and coasted in for the 29 point win.
Dordt was 38-76 from the field and was led by Kyle Lindbergh’s 32 points and 16 rebounds. Lindbergh was 13-20 from the field and was joined in double figures by Nathan Rindels with 15 and Alex Terpstra with 13. Dalton Franken added 10 and grabbed six rebounds and David Den Herder had eight caroms as Dordt held a 46-32 rebounding advantage. Rindels also dished out seven assists as Dordt improved to 4-1.
Trinity was held to 28-60 shooting and was led by Cody Rhorer with 18 and Jake VanDenBerg with 16. The Trolls committed 12 turnovers to five for the Defenders.
Dordt will take a 4-1 record into their game with AIB in Des Moines on Tuesday while Trinity is 1-2 after losing on back to back nights against Northwestern and Dordt.
