Dordt College Men's Basketball vs. Valley City State

(Sioux Center, Iowa) In a game that wasn't as close as the final 24 point margin, the Dordt College Defenders beat Valley City State 83-59. Dordt College led by 30 points or more much of the second half on the way their third win of the season in as many starts.
Dordt raced to an 8-0 lead three minutes into the game and took a double digit lead on a Chris Sievers basket at the 15:08 mark to lead 15-4. The lead gradually grew to 30-11 just past the midpoint of the half with Trevor Wolterstorff converting a lay-in and the first 20 point lead came on a short jumper by Wolterstorff at the 6:54 mark. Dordt used a 13-3 run over the final 4:31 of the half to lead 46-20 at the break.
Valley City State never made a run in the second half, falling behind by 34 at the 13:12 mark. The Vikings used late pressure to cut the final down to 83-59.
Trevor Wolterstorff had a team high 16 points and grabbed six rebounds. Kyle Lindbergh scored 13 and Jordan Vogel added 11 with eight rebounds. Nathan Rindels, playing in relief of Cliff Warner who was in foul trouble most of the night, had eight points with four assists and Warner had six points and four assists in 14 minutes of action.
Valley City State, who had beaten Northwestern in Orange City on Friday night, was limited to 18-52 shooting for 34.6 percent and Dordt outrebounded the Vikings 38-30. The Jeff Kaminsky coached team was led by AJ McDonald with 12 and Sekani Milligen had 12.
Dordt is 3-0 and will face Grace (Nebraska) on Tuesday night at 5:30 while Valley City State is 1-1.
