Dordt College Men's Basketball vs. Mount Marty

(Yankton, South Dakota) Dordt College led start to finish in men's Great Plains Athletic Conference basketball Tuesday night in an 85-70 road win over the Mount Marty Lancers in Yankton, South Dakota.
The Defenders forged a double digit lead in the first half and kept the Lancers at bay the entire second half, but the hosts never let Dordt run away with the game, staying within striking distance to the final buzzer.
Dordt's Cliff Warner scorched the nets for 20 first half points, making good on six three-point baskets to lead the way in the first half as the Defenders took their first double digit lead on a Trevor Wolterstorff lay up at the 13:02 mark to make it 20-11. Dordt nearly blew the game open at the midpoint of the half when Warner made one of his three-point baskets to get the Defenders up 33-17 with just under eight minutes remaining.
Mount Marty responded with a nine point run to over the next three minutes but couldn't sustain the run, trailing 47-34 at halftime.
In the second half the Defender lead was never under ten, but never more than 19, and they held on for the 15 point margin of victory as Dordt outscored the hosts 38-36 in the second half.
Dordt was paced by Warner's 27 points as the junior was 10-16 from the floor and 7-11 on three-point baskets. Warner also had five assists and four steals while scoring his career high. Kyle Lindbergh scored 15 and nabbed 11 rebounds and Trevor Wolterstorff scored 12. Jordan Vogel and Austin Katje each scored 10 on a night where the Defenders made two-thirds of their field goal attempts (32-48) and 10-17 three-point shots. Chris Sievers scored eight with five rebounds in a reserve role.
Dordt held a 37-26 rebounding advantage but turned the ball over 24 times to Mount Marty's 12.
The Lancers were led by a pair of reserves as Joe Hieb scored 14 and Austin Harms 12.
Dordt is 8-0 overall and 2-0 in the GPAC going into a pair of non-conference games this weekend in Rapid City, South Dakota. Dordt faces South Dakota School of Mines and Technology on Friday and Black Hills State on Saturday. Mount Marty is 3-2 and 1-1 in the GPAC.
