Dordt College Men's Basketball vs. Valley City State

(Valley City, North Dakota) The Dordt College Defender men's basketball team shot their way past the Valley City State Vikings on the road Friday night in Valley City, North Dakota by a final score of 94-87 in non-conference basketball play.
The Defenders started fast with a 23-4 lead just seven minutes into the game but the Vikings fought back and made it a 43-38 halftime score on a three-point shot by Dareon Spencer at the buzzer.
The lead stayed between five and nine points much of the first ten minutes of the second half with Valley City State finally tying it at 64-64 on back to back three-pointers with ten minutes remaining. Dordt responded with a four point run and built the lead to 82-71 and made enough free throws down the stretch to forge the win.
Dordt was led by Shawn Keizer's 28 points on 8-14 shooting which included a perfect 5-5 on three-pointers. Logan Kingma scored 19 and Brandon Oldenkamp 17. Trevor Wolterstorff scored 13 despite fouling out after 21 minutes of playing time.
Kingma grabbed seven rebounds and had four assists while Keizer led Dordt with eight rebounds and he also dished three assists. Michael Eekhoff scored nine while dealing with almost constant pressure by the Viking defense.
Valley City State was led by Orlando Anderson with 17 points and Calvin Kraft and Tyler Macomber each had 15. Dordt converted 29-38 free throws in the win while holding a slight 33-31 rebounding edge.
