Dordt College Men's Basketball vs. Buena Vista

(Storm Lake, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender men's basketball team couldn't keep up with the Buena Vista Beavers in non-conference basketball Saturday night, November 22 in Storm Lake, Iowa. The Beavers pulled away late in the first half and went on to an 86-66 win.
Dordt led much of the first ten minutes of the game, building a 25-21 lead on a Brandon Oldenkamp three-pointer with 8:59 left in the half. Dordt's last lead came at the 6:17 mark when Michael Eekhoff made a jump shot for a 27-26 advantage. Buena Vista then went on a 7-0 run over the next two minutes and built a 45-32 halftime lead.
Dordt made a run to start the second half, cutting the lead to 50-42 with 17:11 left on a pair of Logan Kingma free throws but the Beavers had an answer and pushed the lead back to double digits with seven points in row, holding Dordt without a basket for the next six minutes, effectively putting the game out of reach.
Dordt was led by Logan Kingma's 24 points on 7-18 shooting while Michael Eekhoff and Mark Rowenhorst had 13 and 11 respectively. Rowenhorst dished out four assists and Brandon Oldenkamp and Carlie Landegent each had six rebounds fo led Dordt. The Defenders were 23-55 from the floor and managed a 33-29 rebounding advantage.
Buena Vista was 31-57 from the floor and 12-23 on three pointers. The hosts had four players in double figures led by Andre Wagner with 22 and Travis Person added 14. Dordt was forced into 25 turnovers while Buena Vista committed 17.
Dordt is 3-2 overall and will open Great Plains Athletic Conference play in Orange City, Iowa against Northwestern on Tuesday, November 25.
