(Des Moines, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender men's basketball team won their third game in a row, a 75-72 win over the Grand View Vikings in Des Moines, Iowa on Wednesday, November 12. Dordt used a fast start and held the Vikings off for the narrow win that wasn't secured until a Grand View shot fell short at the buzzer.

Dordt raced to a 13-0 lead with 17:31 left in the first half on two three pointers by Brandon Oldenkamp, a three and two by Michael Eekhoff and a two point basket by Logan Kingma. Dordt rode that start to a 44-32 lead at halftime with the lead never shrinking under nine.

Grand View wasted no time in making up ground in the second half, cutting the gap to four with an 8-2 run to start the half. A Mark Rowenhorst lay-up and free throw put Dordt up 49-42 at the 15:25 mark and the Defenders were still up by nine with 8:38 left on a basket by Kingma. Grand View then went on a nine point run, but never took the lead, tying the game with a three-pointer with 6:32 left in the game. A Brett Heidema gave Dordt the lead but the Defenders couldn't shake the hosts, holding a slim 70-69 lead a the 2:46 mark. A pair of Rowenhorst free throws put Dordt up 73-69 with 1:35 left but the lead still wasn't safe as Grand View drilled a three-pointer. Dordt ran the shot clock down but a Rowenhorst shot missed and Grand View had the ball down by one. With the clock winding down Logan Kingma took the ball away and made two free throws. Grand View had a couple seconds to work with but Dordt fouled, forcing the Vikings to the free throw line. After a miss the Vikings rebounded and kicked it out for a three pointer that was shot, preserving the Dordt win.
