Dordt College Men's Basketball vs. Bellevue

(Bellevue, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defender men's basketball team opened the 2008 season with a loss to the Bellevue Bruins in a game played in Bellevue, Nebraska on Tuesday, November 4. The Bruins pulled away early in the game and held Dordt off for a 76-51 win at the Gordon Lozier Arena where Bellevue is unbeaten in 43 straight games.

The Defenders were down 38-22 at halftime and were unable to overcome a poor shooting night where they made 19-58 field goal attempts and 3-18 three-pointers.

Dordt was led by Michael Eekhoff's 13 points and Logan Kingma added 11. Chris Van Roekel came off the bench for nine points. Brett Heidema had nine rebounds and were outrebounded by the Bruins 43-30.

Kyle Prochaska spearheaded the Bellevue win with 18 points and 16 rebounds.

Dordt is 0-1 this season while Bellevue improves to 2-0. Dordt will host Valley City State on Friday night at 8:00 and Jamestown on Saturday at 4:00.
