Dordt College Men's Basketball vs. York

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender men's basketball team evened their record at 2-2 with a convincing win over the York College Panthers in non-conference basketball Saturday afternoon in Sioux Center, Iowa.
The Defenders raced out of the gates scoring the first 15 points on the way toa 46-20 halftime lead, making 18-40 shots in the first half and committing just six turnovers. All but two players scored in the first half for the Defenders.
Dordt picked up right where they left off in the second half, ballooning the difference to 63-24 with 14:28 left on a basket by Scott Van Zanten. Dordt matched that 39 point difference six minutes later when Chad Huenink made a driving layup on the baseline.
York got hot in the final minutes, cutting the lead to 21 on a three pointer by Brian Towner at 75-54 with 2:24 left. Dordt would eventually score that final bucket of the game on a Carlie Landegent basket in the lane for the final of 82-57.
Dordt was 30-70 from the floor and held a commanding 54-25 rebounding edge but committed 21 turnovers for the game. Eric Van Maanen scored 16 points on 6-12 shooting while Brian Eekhoff added 14 with six rebounds and Logan Kingma had 12 points and six rebounds. Mark Rowenhorst converted eight points off the bench and had eight rebounds while Michael Eekhoff had six assists and three steals.
York's Brian Towner led all players with 17 points.
Dordt improves to 2-2 while York drops their fourth in a row and are 1-4 with three of the losses coming to Great Plains Athletic Conference teams.
Dordt will travel to Omaha, Nebraska to face Grace on Tuesday, November 13 and will host Graceland on Saturday, November 17.
