Dordt College Baseball vs. Waldorf

(Forest City, Iowa) The Dordt College baseball team lost an 8-7 decision on Tuesday afternoon in game one of their doubleheader with Waldorf in Forest City, Iowa.
Dordt had a 7-2 lead after four innings but a Waldorf comeback resulted in the come from behind win, scoring the final two runs of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Dordt got on the board with two runs in the first inning. The first run came when Jake Thayer scored on an error off the bat of Cameron Gingerich and Andy Kollbaum pushed the second run across with a ground out that scored Jason Wapnick.
Waldorf answered with a run in the bottom of the first on two hits but Dordt had a three run answer in the second inning. Three straight singles started the inning and after a ground out retired a runner at home, Jason Wapnick and Cameron Gingerich each delivered run scoring singles. An Andrew Kollbaum sacrifice fly made the score 5-1.
Waldorf answered with a run in the third but Dordt got two more unearned runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Waldorf started its comeback with one run on three hits in the fifth inning and the Warriors closed the gap to 7-6 with three runs on three hits in the sixth inning. Waldorf tied the game with a one out single in the seventh and then won it with a two out single to make the final 8-7.
Dordt was outhit 13-7 with seven different players recording singles. Jake Thayer and Jason Wapnick had three and two runs respectively and Kollbaum knocked in two runs. Wapnick drew three walks to go along with his single.
Tyler Wiedner started the game and went five innings and allowed three runs on seven hits and waled two with one strikeout. Josh Peterson pitched the sixth inning and gave up three runs on three hits . Michael Grady took the loss and went two-thirds of an inning and gave up two runs on three hits and walked one.
