Dordt College Baseball vs. Concordia

(Seward, Nebraska) Dordt College won a 5-3 conference tilt with Concordia University, the game was the first of two at Seward, Nebraska. The doubleheader was originally scheduled to be played at Dordt, but the game was moved due to snow in Sioux Center.
Dordt was able to get out on top early in the 2nd inning off of a Aaron Parks home run to left field.
Concordia would not be outdone, as they went on in the 3rd inning to go for all three of their runs for the game, off of three hits.
The Defenders would not go down, as they scored one run in the fifth when Nathan Fraley scored on an error. The Defenders left three runners on in the fifth frame.
Fraley tied the game with a sacrifice fly in the sixth, scoring Dane Le Platt from third. Jake Thayer followed with a two run single to centerfield.
Trailing 5-3, the Bulldogs got two runners on base against Dordt reliever Cole Samuelson but they left runners at the corners in the seventh inning.
Dordt College outhit Concordia University 7-5, with five different players getting credit for the hits. Jake Thayer and Nathan Fraley lead the way with two hits apiece. Aaron Parks’s homerun was the only extra basehit of the game for Dordt.
Ben VanKekerix started the game for the Defenders and went five hits and , allowed three hits, three earned runs, and struck out two batters. Cole Samuelson came in for relief, and went for two innings. Samuelson gave up two hits, zero earned runs, and one struck out one batter and earned the win.
