Dordt College Baseball vs. Nebraska Wesleyan

(Sioux Center, Iowa) A three run seventh inning provided the winning margin on Monday night in Sioux Center as Nebraska Wesleyan defeated Dordt College 6-3 in GPAC play. The win allowed the visitors a sweep of the doubleheader originally scheduled for Friday, April 4.
Nebraska Wesleyan scored one in the first and another run in the third on a pair of hits and they left two on base. A single run in the fourth inning put Wesleyan ahead 3-0 but the Prairie Wolves missed on a chance to go up even bigger when they again left two runners on base.
Dordt scraped out a run in the fourth inning without virtue of a hit as Nathan Fraley reached on a walk, stole second, advanced to third on a fly out to right field and then scored on an error. Dordt threatened in the fifth but came up empty and after a scoreless top of the sixth Dordt had two runs on four hits to even the score. Jason Wapnick provided a run scoring single to plate Aaron Parks and Cameron Gingerich had a sacrifice fly that got Alex Schoonhoven in.
The Prairie Wolves took advantage of three this and an error to take the lead and Dordt had just one hit over the final three innings in falling 6-3. Dordt did get two base runners in the eighth inning but was retired.
Dordt was outhit 11-7 with seven different Defenders getting a single each. Nathan Forseth went six innings and was charged with five runs on nine hits and a walk and struck out one. Michael Grady pitched two innings and gave up a run and Jeremy Engbers worked a scoreless ninth inning and was charged with one hit.
Nolan Lott, Pete Sitorius and Andrew Toy all had three hits for the Prairie Wolves. Jordan Johnson went six innings and gave up three runs on six hits and secured the win with five strikeouts.
Both teams are now 3-5 in the GPAC. Dordt is 10-14 overall while Nebraska Wesleyan is 4-18. Dordt will travel to Waldorf in Forest City, Iowa on Tuesday before going to Briar Cliff on Friday.
