Dordt College Baseball vs. Doane

(Crete, Nebraska) The Doane Tigers used single runs in the first, third, fifth, sixth and seventh innings to build a 5-0 lead and then put the game away with four runs in the eighth inning for a 9-0 win over the Dordt Defenders in game two of their doubleheader on Saturday in GPAC baseball action in Crete, Nebraska.
Dordt had a scoring threat in the first with Cameron Gingerich singling after Jake Thayer reached with a walk. Dordt couldn’t move the runners up the final two outs recorded without incident.
Dordt didn’t get another baserunner until the sixth inning when Jake Thayer reached on an error. Dordt got a hit each in the eighth and ninth innings before falling 9-0.
Gingerich had two singles and Anthony Maule had Dordt’s other hit as they were outhit 16-3 by the conference leader. Nathan Forseth took the loss after working five and a third innings and allowed four runs on ten hits. Josh Peterson went an inning and two thirds struck out four and allowed two hits. Jeremy Engbers and Tyler Wiedner worked the final frame.
Dordt is 1-3 in the GPAC and 8-10 overall while Doane improves to 4-0 and 21-7.
Dordt is scheduled to host Presentation in non-conference baseball on Wednesday.
