Dordt College Baseball vs. Morningside
March 29, 2013
(Sioux City, Iowa (Lewis and Clark)) A Ben Van Kekerix four hitter and a three run batted in night by Nate Fraley translated into a Great Plains Athletic Conference win for the Dordt Defenders over Morningside in game one of a doubleheader played at Lewis and Clark Park in Sioux City, Iowa. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Sioux Center but was moved due to the field in Sioux Center being unplayable.
Morningside got on the board with a run in the top of the third when a throwing error on an attempted steal of third base resulted in the runner scoring.
Dordt came back with Nate Fraley hit a two run homerun with two outs down the leftfield line in the bottom of the third inning.
Sam De Nooy reached to start the fifth with a double and eventually scored when Fraley had a sacrifice fly that scored De Nooy from third.
After a scoreless sixth the Defenders surrendered a one out homerun in the seventh that cut the lead to 3-2. Morningside eventually got a runner on third but Van Kekerix fanned the batter, his 11th strikeout of the game, for his second win of the season.
Van Kekerix allowed four hits and two walks and one earned run. Fraley, De Nooy and Serrato had one hit each for Dordt's total of three.
