Dordt College Baseball vs. Midland

(Fremont, Nebraska) Dordt College dug themselves out of a 4-0 tie to to game two of their doubleheader with four in the top of the fourth but the Midland Warriors added three in the home half of the inning to secure a 7-4 win and a sweep of the twinbill. The games were non-conference tests.
A three run homerun by Midland in the bottom of the first highlighted a four run frame as the Warriors got four runs on for hits.
Dordt was scoreless until the top of the fifth when Davis Fenchel singled in Dustin Brisel. Jon Holwerda and Caleb Bohler each had run scoring singles to cut the gap to 4-3. Anthony Maule lifted a fly ball to the outfield that score Holwerda to tie the game at 4-4.
Three hits and three runs came in the bottom of the fifth gave the Warriors a 7-4 lead they wouldn't relinquish.
Midland outhit the Defenders 9-6 with Mark Nyhoff taking the loss after pitching four and a third innings. Nyhoff allowed seven runs on nine hits with two walks and a strikeout. Josh Van Kekerix finished the game recording the final five outs while not allowing a hit and he struck out two.
Brisel had a double for Dordt's lone extra base hit. Jon Holwerda had two singles with Fenchel, Aaron Parks and Bohler each getting singles.
Dordt is now 2-7 while Midland improves to 16-7. The Defenders are scheduled to play next on March 28 in GPAC play against Morningside in Sioux Center.
