(Fremont, Nebraska) A Ben Van Kekerix two-hitter on the mound wasn't enough in game one of the doubleheader between Dordt and Midland in Fremont, Nebraska on Saturday afternoon. The Defenders surrendered a fifth inning run in losing 1-0 in a game where the two teams had a total of seven baserunners.

Dordt stranded two runners in the third and one in the fifth, getting a runner as far as second once.

Midland's run came in the bottom of the fifth when a sacrifice fly scored the runner that initially reached after being hit by a pitch.

Jason Wapnick, Aaron Parks and Andy Kollbaum each had singles for the Defenders. Van Kekerix took the loss after allowing two hits with one hit batsmen. He struck out five and walked none.
