(Carroll, Iowa) Dordt College came from behind to win a 7-6 decision over Briar Cliff in a Great Plains Athletic Conference game played in Carroll, Iowa, Wednesday afternoon, April 24. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Sioux Center but was moved due to wet field conditions.

Briar Cliff jumped on Dordt with six runs on six hits in the fourth inning, chasing Dordt starter Lucas Carls from the game at the conclusion of the inning.

Dordt started its comeback with two runs in the bottom of the fourth as Nick Serrato and Mark Lyzenga getting back to back singles with two outs in the frame. Andy Kollbaum reached on an error and loaded the bases and Bryan Wallman knocked a single to score two runs.

After a scoreless top of the fifth, the Defenders scored five in the home half of the inning. Wallman doubled in two runs while Lyzenga and Kollbaum each singled in a run. Dordt's other run came in on an Aaron Parks fielder's choice.

John Drenten worked a perfect sixth inning and gave way to Josh Van Kekerix who got the save in retiring the side in the seventh.

Wallman, Serrato and Lyzenga all had multiple hits and Wallman had four runs batted in.

Drenten got the win while working two innings and allowed no hits and struck out one. Van Kekerix got credit for the save. Carls went the first four innings and gave up six runs on six hits with two strikeouts.

Briar Cliff's Adam Alexander took the loss in relief.
