Dordt College Baseball vs. Concordia

(Seward, Nebraska) Ben Van Kekerix scattered six hits and got four early runs to work with and the Dordt Defenders won a 4-3 decision over Concordia in Seward, Nebraska on Saturday.
The Defenders got a run in the first inning when Nathan Fraley doubled to lead off the game and eventually came in to score on a Dustin Brisel double. Concordia got one run in the bottom of the first to tie the game.
Josh Peterson knocked a run in with a sacrifice fly and Jason Wapnick singled in Jon Holwerda for the third run of the game.
Dordt tacked on a fourth run in the third inning when Aaron Parks and Brisel had back to back doubles with one out.
Meantime, Ben Van Kekerix was stringing together five scoreless innings and retired 11 batters in a row from the end of the first frame into the fifth inning. Concordia did make it exciting with a two run homerun in the bottom of the seventh but Van Kekerix got the final out on a strikeout with the bases empty and took his third win of the season.
Brisel had two doubles and two runs batted in for the Defenders and Holwerda had two hits as Dordt outhit the hosts 8-6.
Van Kekerix struck out seven and didn't issue a walk.
Dordt is 3-6 in the league and 5-13 overall. Concordia is 3-6 in the GPAC and 10-17 overall.
