(Sioux Center, Iowa) Doane College prevailed 2-1 in game one of a Great Plains Athletic Conference doubleheader with Dordt College in baseball play at Open Space Park in Sioux Center. The two teams combined for just ten hits and there was one walk issued in a sharply played contest.

Doane got two in the fifth on four hits while Dordt answered with one in the sixth inning.

The sixth inning with Nate Fraley singling in Anthony Maule. Dordt had two runners thrown out at home trying to tie the game. One was thrown out on a fielder's choice while Fraley was thrown out trying to score when Aaron Parks singled with two outs.

Dordt stranded the tying run at second in the seventh when Andy Kollbaum's line drive to centerfield ended the game.

Dordt was outhit 6-4. Four different Defenders had singles in the loss. Mark Nyhoff took the loss while going the distance while striking out four and walking one.

Doane's Nathan Roth got the win while striking out six in five and one-third innings of work and Josh Haden got the save in surrendering no runs on two hits while recording the last five outs of the game.
