Dordt College Baseball vs. Wayland Baptist

(Tucson, Arizona) The Dordt College Defender baseball team erupted for eight runs in the fourth inning and won an 11-8 decision over Wayland Baptist on Tuesday, March 12 in game one of their doubleheader.
Dordt allowed two runs in the first and three in the second to forge a 5-2 lead. Dordt's first run was an unearned run in the first inning on a passed ball after Nathan Fraley had walked and stole second and got himself to third on a fly ball. Bryan Wallman singled in Aaron Parks in the second inning after Parks had doubled.
The Defenders were down 6-2 when they came to bat in the bottom of the fourth. Wallman had an rbi single in the inning along with Fraley, Parks and Jon Holwerda. Andy Kollbaum and Jason Wapnick both had two rbi hits as well as the Defenders took a 10-6 lead.
The Defenders got a run for insurance in the sixth when Dustin Brisel doubled in Anthony Maule who was running for Kollbaum. Kollbaum led the inning off with a double.
Wayland Baptist made it interesting with two runs in the seventh before being retired.
Dordt was outhit 14-13.
Ben Van Kekerix was the winning pitcher with six runs allowed on 10 hits and he walked one. Ryan De Wit came on in relief and pitched two and two-third innings and allowed two runs on four hits with three walks and Josh Van Kekerix recorded the final out. Dordt forced Wayland Baptist to strand ten baserunners.
Fraley was 2-3 with two hits and an run batted in. Andy Kollbaum had two hits with two runs batted in and Parks was 3-4 with two runs scored and a run batted in. Wallman also had two hits and knocked in two.
